Almond Toffee Bars
Cookie
- "1 cup butter, softened"
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 6 oz. package semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips (12 oz. may be used for
extra richness)
- "1 1/2 c sliced almonds, toasted"
"Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat together butter and confectioners sugar
until fluffy. Pat into ungreased 15x10 baking pan. Sprinkle with chocolate
chips. Bake for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with almonds, drizzle evenly with hot
syrup. Bake for 15 minutes. Cool slightly. Cut into bars. Makes 48."
Brown Sugar Syrup
- 1/3 c butter or margarine
- "1 cup brown sugar, packed"
- 2 T water
- 1 1/2 t lemon juice
- 1 1/2 t vanilla extract
"In saucepan, melt butter. Add brown sugar, water and lemon juice. Bring to
boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla. Keep hot."
